Phoenix Rising
Phoenix Rising took place May 17-21, 2007. Please feel free to view this archival version of our website, and to visit the Narrate Conferences, Inc. website for information about future events.

Lagniappe

Phoenix Rising is creating a broad spectrum of additional offerings — or lagniappe, if you're from New Orleans — for all attendees. We expect our lagniappe to encompass a wide variety of options, and to appeal to a diverse group of attendees. These activities are included with every basic registration.

Auction
On Monday morning, as part of our Coda, Phoenix Rising will conduct an auction of Harry Potter, wizarding, literary and New Orleans items. Make sure to bring a Galleon or two.

Art Gallery
In keeping with our focus on transformative art, Phoenix Rising's programming includes not only a gallery of fantasy and fan art, but a Grand Gallery Opening on Thursday night. We hope to have many of our participating artists on hand to discuss and celebrate their artwork during the Opening, and throughout the course of the weekend.

Dueling
This weekend-long, inter-house competition will test your memory for names and faces — or your skill at reading name badges and searching for names in our program book and on the website. Hunt down your targets, one by one, because witches and wizards still standing at the Coda Breakfast will be awarded House Points toward the coveted Pirate Gold. To participate in dueling, you must choose to play during the registration process, or by adding dueling to your registration through the Change My Registration option.

Final Theory Wall
The final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be released July 21, 2007, a short two months after Phoenix Rising. Over the last ten years, J. K. Rowling’s series has generated a thousand theories, from the portentous to the ludicrous. At Phoenix Rising — one of the last fan events before the Harry Potter canon closes — attendees created a Final Theory Wall, an interactive art project on which attendees recorded their predictions and speculation about the series one last time.

The Final Theory Wall, a unique memory of both Harry Potter and an unforgettable weekend in New Orleans, is available here:

Horcrux Hunt
Sponsored by: FictionAlley eMentors
During the course of the weekend, attendees may choose to participate in a series of quests for a Horcrux throughout the conference space and the French Quarter. Quests will test your memory, your deduction skills, and your logic, and may be played in any order you choose. Anyone solving all initial quests during the weekend will have the tools to decipher the final clue to the puzzle at the Masquerade Ball on Sunday evening.

The Horcrux Hunt puzzles, hints and solution are available here:

Phoenix Post
In order to assist attendees in meeting each other before arriving in New Orleans, Phoenix Rising offers Phoenix Post. In the months leading up to the conference, attendees can exchange postcards or e-mail with other attendees sorted into their same House at L'Université des Arts Magiques. Interested attendees can sign up as part of registration at no charge.

Remembrall Wall
The Harry Potter books, first published ten years before Phoenix Rising, have inspired anecdotes, stories, reflection, and hours of reading. The Remembrall Wall, an interactive art project designed to collect and display fans' favorite Harry Potter-related memories, was created by first by online fans and then by Phoenix Rising's attendees.

Rendezvous
Interested in a chance to explore the French Quarter with some old friends, or debate 'shipping with new friends over a beignet? Want a chance to meet up with other attendees from Kansas, who like Snape, or who are interested in knitting House scarves? Please consider our Rendezvous program to help you organize a group gathering, whether it’s of people you’ve known for years or those who share your theory about Polyjuiced Ron. Phoenix Rising has collected information on locations for gatherings; you just need to choose the location, the time, and your group or interest. For more information on creating your own Rendezvous, please click here. To see Rendezvous that others have created, and perhaps attend one or several, please click here.

Vendor Room
Phoenix Rising is presenting a Vendor Room during the course of the conference, and merchants will be on hand to offer attendees Harry Potter, wizarding and New Orleans items. Please see our list of participating vendors here.
