PROSPECTUS
A CALL FOR ENTRIES
Phoenix Rising
Art Gallery: May 17-21, 2007
New Orleans, Louisiana
ENTRY INFORMATION
All entrants who wish to submit work for consideration by the Phoenix Rising Gallery must be at least 14 years of age by May 17, 2007. Entrants may be from anywhere in the world, and are not required to attend Phoenix Rising to have their art included in the Gallery. Accepted artists are, however, encouraged to register for and attend the conference so that they may be present for the Grand Gallery Opening on May 17, 2007, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Entries of up to 5 separate pieces of 2- and 3-D fantasy, whimsy, magical, and other fan art will be accepted through the online submission system only.
PREPARATION FOR SUBMISSION
Entries of up to 5 separate pieces of fantasy, whimsy, magical, and fanart will be accepted through the online submission system only. The Phoenix Rising Gallery may accept 2- and 3-dimensional artwork. Accepted file formats for artwork and photographs of non-digital pieces are .jpeg/.jpg, .png, and .gif.
At the time of submission, artists should be prepared to give the title of each piece, the medium, and approximate dimensions when prepared for hanging. A short commentary on the works, including special hanging needs, may be submitted as well. While there will be no sales of artwork in the Phoenix Rising Gallery, artists may choose to donate their piece(s) to the auction, which will take place during the conference’s closing activities on May 21, 2007.
NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE
All notices will be sent out by e-mail no later than January 20, 2007.
DELIVERY OF WORK
Artists are responsible for either bringing their pieces to the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel between noon and 6 p.m. on May 17, 2007, or for shipping them to the conference. Directions for shipping to New Orleans, Louisiana will be provided in the spring of 2007. Delivery and return are at the artist's expense. Phoenix Rising is not responsible for pieces that arrive without suitable return shipping materials and postage, or that are not picked up by the end of the conference.
Two-dimensional art must be, at minimum, complete with a mat, protective backing, and hardware or wiring strong enough to support its weight. Pieces framed and matted with plexiglass, wired or otherwise ready to hang, are preferred. Three-dimensional wall art must be wired and ready to hang with hardware strong enough to support its weight. All other three-dimensional art should be prepared as appropriate. Artists are encouraged to ensure that the dimensions of the frame are no larger than 22 inches wide for any art that has not yet been created in a physical medium so that it can be hung on existing display panels.
Phoenix Rising, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to refrain from displaying accepted entries that are not delivered in a ready-to-hang state or that would be damaged by the Gallery volunteers when modified for hanging.
LIABILITY
All works of art are entered at the artist's risk. Phoenix Rising and its representatives will not be responsible for damage, loss or theft of work during the shipping, transporting and exhibition process, though all reasonable care will be taken in handling the works of art to be displayed in the Gallery. Artists are responsible for insuring their works of art for the entire period of shipping, exhibition and return shipping.
